🍜 Jōkyūan

📝 Introduction

The historically rich Sakai City proudly presents its high-quality desserts.

📖 Details

The historically rich Sakai City in Osaka Prefecture has cultivated a profound tea culture under the influence of the tea master Sen no Rikyū. Kyuukan is a renowned shop for traditional Japanese sweets in the area. Their signature product, "Golden Philosophy," is a premium Nagasaki cake meticulously developed by pastry chef Kumadai Saiten, who has trained in French patisserie and possesses both Western and Japanese techniques. Made with carefully selected high-quality ingredients, this Nagasaki cake features a pure golden hue created solely from eggs, offering an incredibly moist and fluffy texture, along with a nostalgic elegant sweetness. Using rock salt from Germany, the birthplace of the Baumkuchen, combined with rich flavors of brandy and rum, the "Baumkuchen – Hard," baked layer by layer by dedicated chefs, and the fluffy "Baumkuchen – Soft" are also extremely popular. The tea room "Rikyū" attached to the shop allows visitors to enjoy views of a Japanese garden and tea room, providing a serene and leisurely experience. The tea room "Rikyū" offers exclusive treats like the "Freshly Baked Wooden Box Nagasaki Cake" and the signature "Caramelized Nagasaki Cake," both of which are must-try delicacies.
