Located in front of the Koriyama City Hall in Fukushima Prefecture, Kaiseizan Park is a symbolic urban park of Koriyama City. Developed around Isuzu Lake, which was created for irrigation purposes, it has become an urban oasis that is beloved by the citizens. Covering an area of approximately 30 hectares, the park features sports facilities such as an athletics field, baseball field, and swimming pool, as well as a free plaza and outdoor music hall, making it suitable for various uses. It is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in the prefecture, with around 1,300 cherry trees blooming, including the historic Somei Yoshino cherry trees planted by pioneers in 1878, which are said to be the oldest Somei Yoshino cherry trees in Japan and are quite precious. During the cherry blossom season, nighttime illuminations are held, attracting large numbers of visitors for flower viewing both day and night. Additionally, the rose garden, which features approximately 400 varieties and 800 rose bushes, is also worth a visit. It is open for viewing during the blooming seasons in June and October, showcasing elegant roses in vibrant colors. The park also serves as a pleasant walking route to enjoy the seasonal natural landscapes, including autumn foliage.
