🍜 Kamameshi Shizuka Park Store

📝 Introduction

Even if it means waiting in line, I want to taste the exquisite clay pot rice from the renowned old establishment.

📖 Details

Since its opening in Showa 34 (1959), the traditional Kamameshi restaurant "Kamameshi Shizuka" has been in operation for over 60 years, with two branches in Nara City. It has become a renowned establishment that is always mentioned when talking about Nara's Kamameshi, adhering to the traditional style of cooking each pot carefully over direct fire upon order. Because of this, the park branch located in front of the Nara National Museum often sees long lines during the day. Shizuka's Kamameshi is a culinary masterpiece that makes people willing to wait in line just for a taste. As a long-loved specialty shop, it offers a wide variety of Kamameshi, from fixed menu items available year-round to seasonal limited versions using fresh ingredients. In addition to single orders that come with red miso soup and pickles, there are also set meals that include side dishes and fruit. Among the offerings, the most popular is the signature "Nara Seven Kinds Kamameshi," which has been passed down since the restaurant's founding. After placing an order, about 20 minutes later, the freshly cooked Kamameshi is served, revealing large pieces of shrimp, crab, eel, chicken, and other ingredients. At the same time, the rich aromas of the ingredients, broth, and crispy rice waft through the air, greatly enhancing one's appetite and mood. Savoring each bite until the entire pot is finished brings an overwhelming sense of happiness, making one completely forget the wait in line and the time taken to order.
