📖 Details
Kamiyabar was established in the 13th year of the Meiji era (1880) and is widely known as Japan's first bar. It has been favored by many literary figures such as Osamu Dazai and Katai Tayama, who often mentioned the establishment in their works, making it a bar of high recognition. The Kamiyabar building, located next to Azumabashi in Asakusa, was constructed in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921) and is registered as a tangible cultural asset of the country.
The signature drink, "Denki Bran," is an original cocktail developed by the founder. It is made with brandy as the base spirit, combined with a secret ratio of gin, wine, curaçao, and herbs. Its beautiful amber color and subtle sweetness create a unique flavor that continues to be loved by countless people to this day.
Additionally, Kamiyabar recommends pairing draft beer as an inter-drink to enhance the tasting experience. Despite its modern appearance, the bar exudes a homely atmosphere typical of the downtown area, offering a rich variety of Japanese and Western-style small dishes such as stewed dishes, German-style potatoes, and crab croquettes, enticing every visitor to sit down and enjoy a drink. The second floor features a Western-style restaurant serving a variety of light meals and desserts.
