🎎 Kawagoe Kimono Rental Mimai-an

📝 Introduction

Strolling along the Koedo Kawagoe in a kimono!

📖 Details

The Kawagoe area in Saitama Prefecture still retains the traditional streetscape of kura-zukuri (storehouse-style) architecture, featuring numerous shrines and temples, as well as nostalgic photography spots. The quaint old streets are often referred to as "Little Edo," which beautifully complements the charm of wearing a kimono. If you have the opportunity to visit Kawagoe, I highly recommend the "kimono experience." Strolling through the old streets in a kimono is incredibly poetic and will surely result in stunning photos. It is said that Memian is the original shop for kimono rentals in the Kawagoe area, located in a small alley near the entrance of "Toki no Kane" (Time Bell Tower). The shop regularly stocks about 400 to 500 sets of kimonos, allowing you to choose your preferred style and pattern. Here, you can rent a complete set of items needed to wear a kimono, including the kimono itself, obi (sash), geta (wooden sandals), tabi (split-toe socks), undergarments, kimono bag, hair accessories, and more. The pricing is clear and easy to understand, so you can feel at ease even if you don't understand Japanese. Additionally, they offer various small items like traditional Japanese umbrellas to help you create your desired style. Once you're dressed in your kimono, you can take a walk through the old streets of Kawagoe. The streets, filled with Japanese charm, have many beautiful spots that go well with kimonos. On the 8th, 18th, and 28th of each month, the city holds "Kawagoe Kimono Day." During this event, participating shops offer various discounts and services to customers wearing kimonos or yukatas (summer kimonos). It is advisable to plan your visit on these three days for great savings.
