About Kinchakuda (Kinchakuda)
A park where 5 million Lycoris radiata (曼珠沙華) bloom in competition.
Details
Koma River flows through the western part of Hidakashi in Saitama Prefecture, and Kinugoshida is a flat area embraced by this clear river. It is said that when viewed from the nearby Hiyodaka Mountain, the shape of this land resembles the traditional Japanese fabric pouch "Kinugoshi," hence the name Kinugoshida.
The most famous sight here is the autumn blooming of Manjushage (彼岸花). When five million Manjushage flowers bloom simultaneously, it looks as if a bright red carpet has been laid across the earth. While there are many places in Japan where Manjushage blooms, it is quite rare to find them growing amidst mixed forests like in Kinugoshida. Against the backdrop of green trees, the Manjushage exudes a mysterious charm. Every year, countless visitors rush to witness this dreamlike scenery.
In addition to flower viewing in Kinugoshida, visitors can also experience hiking, various outdoor river activities, and enjoy the fun of barbecuing. One can stand on the "Aiai Bridge" downstream of the Koma River to gaze at the beautiful surrounding scenery.
