🍜 Kitakaro Sapporo Main Store北菓楼 札幌本館

Originally an old Western-style building of the Hokkaido Government Office, it was transformed into the "Kitakaro" Sapporo Main Store in March 2016. Designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, the renovation blends new design elements into the historic structure, creating a retro yet stylish atmosphere that is stunning both inside and out. On the first floor, you can find "Hokkaido Pioneer Rice Crackers," the much-reported Ring Cake, and a variety of both Japanese and Western-style pastries, including rich cream puffs. The store also offers ice cream, which you can enjoy on the long benches after purchase. The ice cream has a strong vanilla aroma and a rich flavor. The second floor features a café, and it is recommended to walk up the stairs. Ascending the luxurious stone staircase, sunlight pours in through the windows, creating a beautifully atmospheric space. The classic "Kitakaro Signature Omurice," the Sapporo Main Store-exclusive pasta, and Kitakaro cakes are all highly recommended.

The historic Western-style architecture of the Hokkaido Prefectural Library has been integrated into the new design, giving both the exterior and interior a retro yet stylish feel. On the first floor, the sales area offers popular products from "Bokkalou." The ice cream and cream puffs sold in the store can also be enjoyed on-site. On the second floor, the café serves classic dishes such as the "Bokkalou Signature Omurice," pasta exclusive to the Bokkalou Sapporo Main Building, and Bokkalou cakes.
