🗺️ Kumamoto Milk Road

📝 Introduction

Transforming agricultural roads from the ranch into stunning scenic routes!

📖 Details

The Aso caldera is extremely vast, with its outer rim extending 128 kilometers. A road that stretches approximately 45 kilometers along the northwest ridge, along with Prefectural Road 339 (North Outer Rim Otsu Line) and Route 45 (Aso Park Kikuchi Line), is collectively known as the "Milk Road," representing a breathtaking scenic spot in Kumamoto Prefecture. This road was originally an agricultural route used by nearby farms to transport milk, hence its nickname "Milk Road," which is well-known among the public. From the name, one can imagine the green pastures along the way, resembling grazing fields that extend to the ridge of the outer rim. Along the route, there are several scenic viewpoints such as the Niju Pass Viewpoint, Kubo Rock Viewpoint, and the Nishiyuura Park (Kitayama) Viewpoint, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the magnificent Aso caldera and the stunning scenery of the Aso Five Peaks nearby. The Milk Road, located near the Nishiyuura Park viewpoint, intersects with the "Aso Sky Road," continuing all the way to the Daikanbo viewpoint.
