About Manns Wine Komoro Winery
The "SOLARIS" series winery, which makes an appearance in first-class cabins or at VIP receptions.
Details
Located at the junction of Nagano Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, and Yamanashi Prefecture, the Chikuma River area has gained significant attention in recent years due to its suitable conditions for grape cultivation, earning it the nickname "Chikuma River Wine Valley." The first winery established here in 1973 (Showa 48) was Manns Wine Komoro Winery, which has long produced a variety of wines, primarily the "SOLARIS" series, used in international first-class cabins and for hosting VIP dignitaries.
Within the premises, there is a Japanese garden called "Banzui-en," covering approximately 3,000 tsubo, where visitors can stroll freely. The garden features a tea room showcasing beautiful curved beams and a monument inscribed with poems by the literary giant Shimazaki Toson, making it a worthwhile place to explore. A staircase in the corner leads down to the underground wine cellar, which is usually not open to the public but is accessible during special events or paid tours of the winery. Additionally, visitors can explore the vineyards cultivated using the "Rain cut" method developed by Manns Wine Komoro Winery (the visiting period for the Rain cut cultivation method is from late August to early November).
The attached shop offers paid tastings of wines available for purchase on-site, allowing guests to buy according to their personal taste preferences, which is a major charm of the winery.
