About Maple Valley Park
A famous spot for viewing autumn leaves located in the World Heritage site "Miyajima."
Details
Hiroshima Prefecture's "Miyajima" is a top destination for viewing autumn leaves. Every year, from mid-November to late November, the park enters the maple season, with over 700 trees turning vibrant shades of red. The most common species is the fiery red Ibaraki maple, with about 560 trees. Following that are the large-leaved Japanese maples, with around 100 trees, and there are also about 40 trees of the Japanese striped maple and mountain maple.
It is said that Hiroshima's most famous dessert, "Momiji Manju," was inspired by the Momijidani Park during the Meiji era. One of the highlights here is the "Momiji Bridge" located at the park entrance. With its beautiful crimson railings, the Momiji Bridge is adorned with autumn leaves in the fall, making it even more eye-catching. The view from the "Momiji Bridge" overlooking the entire Momijidani landscape is also a classic sight. Every year, in conjunction with the maple season, nighttime illuminations are held after sunset. The autumn leaves, highlighted by the light and shadows, exude a dreamy atmosphere different from that of the daytime.
Momijidani Park is also a well-known spot for viewing fresh green maple leaves, with the park filled with refreshing greenery during spring and summer. The striking contrast between the crimson "Momiji Bridge" and the lush greenery is truly breathtaking.
