📜 Content

The Matsue Horikawa sightseeing boat travels along a 3.7-kilometer-long moat, where passengers can enjoy the humorous commentary of the boatman while admiring the national treasure "Matsue Castle" and the scenery along the way from a covered boat. The entire route takes about 50 minutes and covers three areas: the historical area with samurai residences and stone walls that retain the appearance of the Edo period; the bustling city center where retro buildings and modern skyscrapers intertwine; and the natural area with dense forests where waterbird ecology can be observed. Along the way, the boat will pass under 17 bridges, requiring the canopy to be lowered when passing under the lower bridges. Passengers will also have to follow the boatman's calls to raise or lower the canopy, either bending down or lying sideways on the boat, which is very entertaining. At the same time, they can experience the thrill and excitement of almost hitting the bridges. The Horikawa sightseeing boat has three boarding locations: "Kōryū Plaza," "KARAKORO (カラコロ) Plaza," and "Ōtemae Plaza," allowing passengers to board and disembark freely at any of these points. Since it is a day trip, the boat ticket can be used multiple times within the same day, making it a convenient transportation option for visiting various tourist attractions in Matsue City in addition to the boat tour. The sightseeing boat transforms with the changing seasons. In summer, it becomes the "Fuurin Boat," with pleasant bell sounds and a cool breeze; in winter, it turns into the "Kotatsu Boat," using coal to warm both body and heart, allowing passengers to enjoy a charming water journey. Additionally, during the "Mizukake Road" event held every October, night cruises are added.
