Meiji Jingu Gaien was established in 1926, centered around the Shōtoku Memorial Picture Gallery, and features various sports facilities including the Jingu Baseball Stadium, as well as being renowned for its beautiful natural scenery throughout the four seasons.
The famous 300-meter-long ginkgo tree avenue stretches from Aoyama-dori to the Shōtoku Memorial Picture Gallery. Especially in autumn, the ginkgo tree avenue transforms into a golden tunnel. In spring, around 400 cherry blossom trees bloom in the Gaien, with the most stunning views found around the Picture Gallery.
Meiji Jingu Gaien also offers many sports facilities, the most famous of which is the Meiji Jingu Stadium. It is not only a sacred place for student baseball but also the home ground for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, a professional baseball team in Japan. The Gaien also features an indoor skating rink open year-round, a baseball batting center, and tennis practice courts, allowing visitors to easily enjoy a variety of sports activities.
