🗺️ Meteor Waterfall / Galaxy Waterfall流星の滝・銀河の滝

The Ishikari River, a first-class river flowing through the central and western parts of Hokkaido into the Sea of Japan. In the Shakotan Gorge along the Ishikari River, several waterfalls cascade down from a 24-meter-high cliff into the Dake Valley. Among them, the waterfalls revered as the most beautiful are the "Meteor Waterfall" (流星瀑布) and the "Galaxy Waterfall" (銀河瀑布). The Galaxy Waterfall flows down elegantly like delicate strands of white silk. In contrast, the Meteor Waterfall features a powerful and massive water flow. Therefore, they are also referred to as the female waterfall and the male waterfall, respectively. After a 20-minute walk up the slope behind the waterfalls, there is a viewing platform called "Double Waterfall Terrace" (雙瀑台), where you can enjoy the sight of both waterfalls cascading down from the left and right sides of the sheer rock face.

At the observation platform "Shuangpu Tai," you can simultaneously enjoy two waterfalls. The path to Shuangpu Tai is steep and rugged, so please wear sports shoes or other non-slip footwear. Nearby, there are souvenir shops, stores, restrooms, and a parking lot. It is also recommended to visit the famous hot spring town in Hokkaido, "Sōunkyō Onsen," along the way.
