Located along National Route 495, which connects Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City, this rest area is adjacent to the "Satsuki Azalea Pine Grove," one of Japan's 100 Selected White Sand and Green Pine Sites, and offers views of Genkai Beach, providing beautiful scenery throughout the year. Inside the Munakata Roadside Station, the "Product Direct Sales Center" is filled with fresh seafood caught from nearby fishing ports. Staff members teach visitors how to taste and prepare the seafood, and also offer paid services for slaughtering and slicing. The "Fruits and Vegetables Area" sells seasonal local produce, while the "Meat Area" offers brand meats such as Munakata beef and Munakata chicken, along with various local specialties. At the restaurant "Mother's Cafeteria Hamayu," you can enjoy fisherman's dishes and farm dishes made with ingredients sourced from Munakata. Additionally, there are shops like the "Souvenir Hall," which sells bread made from rice flour produced in Munakata and Fukutsu, as well as local specialties and official original products from Munakata City, and the "New Product Trial Shop." It is also very close to the World Cultural Heritage site "The Sacred Island of Munakata: Okinoshima and Related Sites," making it a recommended stop during your sightseeing journey.
