📝 Introduction
Spend a dreamy night in Kyoto at "Kayabuki no Sato," where the beauty of Japan's original scenery is preserved.
📖 Details
Every year from late January to early February, the village of Miyama, located in the northern mountainous region of Kyoto, hosts the "Miyama Thatched Roof Village Snow Lantern Festival." This magical lighting event, initiated by local residents, aims to welcome travelers visiting Miyama during the snowy winter season.
During the festival, various lanterns, including snow lanterns, streetlights illuminating the alleys, LED lanterns, and hand-held lanterns, adorn the entire village, creating a warm and dreamy atmosphere. Additionally, the thatched-roof houses blanketed in snow are also lit up, making visitors feel as if they have stepped into the world of ancient Japanese legends, immersing themselves in this breathtaking scenery.
Furthermore, if there is enough snow, visitors on-site can participate in making their own snow lanterns (a tool rental fee applies). Using pre-prepared buckets and shovels to pile up snow, they can create unique snow lanterns. The finished snow lanterns are displayed at the venue, becoming part of the beautiful winter landscape.
During the festival, there are also food stalls offering warm dishes made with local ingredients, allowing guests to enjoy a meal while admiring the enchanting views. If driving, parking must be reserved in advance through the official website.
