Mizushima is an uninhabited island at the tip of the Tsuruga Peninsula in Fukui Prefecture, known as the "Hokuriku Hawaii." It can only be accessed by a sightseeing boat that operates during the limited period of July and August each year, attracting a large number of water-loving visitors during the peak summer season to enjoy their leisure time.
Escaping the everyday life is the most charming allure of Mizushima. The crystal-clear, pure waters contrast beautifully with the long stretch of white sandy beach, making it a seaside paradise! To protect the landscape, there are no beach huts or shops on the beach (only restrooms are provided), and activities like jet skiing and barbecuing are prohibited, allowing children to play in the water safely.
In addition to swimming, visitors can collect seashells or interact with marine life that inhabits the shallow waters, providing plenty of fun. You can also enjoy the emerald green coastal scenery and relish a soothing moment amidst the vast ocean views.
Some areas of the sea have continuous reefs, so please be sure to wear beach shoes to prevent accidental injuries.

Getting There
(1) Take the "Community Bus ②" from JR "Tsuruga" Station towards Tachiyama for about 32 minutes, get off at "Irobimi" Station, and walk for 3 minutes to Irobimi Pier to board the sightseeing boat for about 10 minutes. (2) Take the "Community Bus ②" from JR "Tsuruga" Station towards Tachiyama for about 33 minutes, get off at "Urakoshi" Station, and walk for 3 minutes to Urakoshi Pier to board the sightseeing boat for about 5 minutes.
Hours / Holidays
The sightseeing boat operates without any days off during the period from the first Saturday of July to the last Sunday of August. It will not operate in bad weather.
