📜 Content

An art space that suddenly appeared in the forest valley near "Muro-ji," famous for its azaleas. This project, which began in 1997, is part of the "Muro Art Paradise Project," with themes including harmony between nature and culture, as well as regional revitalization. Based on the concept of the late local sculptor Takekichi Inoue and supervised by the world-renowned space designer Dani Karavan, it was completed in 2006. The site, covering 7.8 hectares, features 12 exhibits. In addition to Muro-ji and several other temples and shrines, there is "Sun Island," built at 34 degrees 32 minutes north latitude, which is said to be related to ancient sun worship, and the "Spiral Bamboo Grove," which leads underground via a spiral staircase and returns to the surface through an underground tunnel, among many other unique attractions. There are also lakes and islands for observing wild birds, allowing visitors to experience the charm of Muro's connection to nature through all five senses since ancient times.
