Opened in 1995, the museum's initial exhibit featured about 3,000 artworks from the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. Currently, the museum's collection has expanded to approximately 5,500 pieces. The year is divided into four exhibition periods, featuring the main collection in the "MOT Collection Exhibition." Each year, 6 to 8 various special contemporary art exhibitions are held. From the entrance corridor, visitors can enjoy a view of the nearby Kiba Park. The outdoor display includes large sculptures and works by Japanese artist Yoko Ono.
