🎨 Festival Gallery
📝 Introduction
You can take a tour to view the world's largest Naruto whirlpools from the management passage of the Great Naruto Bridge, which is usually inaccessible.
📖 Details
Located at the northeastern tip of Shikoku, spanning between Minami Awaji City in Hyogo Prefecture and Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture, the Ōnaruto Bridge stands majestically over the Naruto Strait. It is a combined road and railway bridge, with a roadway for vehicles on top and a management passageway within the bridge. During the tour of the whirlpools at the Ōnaruto Bridge, visitors can access the management passageway, which is usually off-limits, to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Naruto whirlpools below.
After completing the check-in procedures at the seaside plaza of the Whirlpool Product Center and receiving protective gear such as helmets and gloves, participants will listen to an overview of the bridge using a full-sized cross-sectional diagram of the Ōnaruto Bridge cable. After carefully listening to the bridge's structure and important notes for the tour, it’s time to enter the passageway that is inaccessible to regular visitors! The Ōnaruto Bridge is 1,629 meters long. As you walk along the management passageway, which is about 45 meters above sea level and approximately 1 meter wide, you will hear stories about the construction of the bridge and explanations about its structure. Additionally, the guide will introduce information about the surrounding islands, allowing you to enjoy the scenery while listening attentively.
The highlight of the tour is the view of several whirlpools from the center of the bridge! From this vantage point directly above, you can appreciate the breathtaking natural scenery created by nature, which is a unique pleasure of this walking tour.
