About Nasu Wild Animal Park

The lion is close to you! Observe the lives of wild animals up close.

Details

Nasu Wild Animal Park opened in 1980 in the lush natural environment of the Nasu Highlands. It houses approximately 700 wild animals from around 70 species, raised in a free-range manner. Visitors can choose from various ways to explore the park, including self-driving, renting a car, taking a bus, or using the caged bus "WILD RIDE." From inside the vehicle, you can observe carnivorous animals like white lions, lions, and tigers up close, as well as the living spaces of herbivores such as giraffes, hippos, and rhinos. The guided bus also provides commentary about the animals while you enjoy watching their ecology, and there are designated times for feeding the animals. In the "Interaction Plaza" area, which has a roof, cute small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs are waiting for visitors, and you can directly feed them. Depending on the time of your visit, you might even get the chance to feed capybaras. Behind this area is the "SAFARI WALK" zone, which features a "Tiger Observation Deck" where you can see the rare sight of white lions. On weekends, there is a nighttime event called "NIGHT SAFARI," where you can see nocturnal animals that are active at night, offering a different experience from the daytime. The sight of lions and tigers appearing in the darkness is sure to amaze you. For those who want to get even closer to the animals, an elephant ride adventure is recommended. Riding on an elephant controlled by a mahout, you can explore the wild area where the animals live.
