🗺️ Nengzuo Factory Tour

📝 Introduction

In the old brand foundry, challenge the 400-year tradition of the casting experience.

📖 Details

Founded in 1916, the foundry "Nōzaku" is located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, which has developed its casting industry for over 400 years. Initially manufacturing items such as tea sets, Buddhist implements, and flower vases, the company has significantly expanded its product range to include home decor items. It is the world's first company to develop 100% tin tableware, gaining attention both domestically and internationally for its superb technology and design. Visitors can tour the factory under the guidance of a narrator, observing the traditional craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations. The casting experience, which allows participants to create items from the shaping process, is also very popular. In this experience, the sand mold casting method is used, where the sand is pressed into shape to create the mold. Participants can challenge themselves to make tin items such as sake cups, trays, and small plates. The process includes mold making, grinding, and engraving, allowing participants to experience the same procedures as the artisans. There are two courses available: a 30-minute course for elementary school students aged 6 and above, and a 90-minute course for middle school students and older. In both courses, the step of pouring hot tin is handled by staff, so participants can enjoy the experience with peace of mind. The completed works can be taken home immediately. There is also a café where you can enjoy desserts, light meals, lunch, and afternoon tea using Nōzaku's tin tableware.
