Details
Opened in 1873, the restaurant of the "Nikko Kanaya Hotel," the oldest resort hotel in Japan, is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2023. During the renovation of the main building in 1936, the hotel lobby at that time was transformed into the current main restaurant. The column head sculpture named "Karura" is an ancient decorative piece that allows guests to savor traditional French cuisine in a classical atmosphere.
The "Classic Dinner" features a special recreation of eight dishes that were actually served at Kanaya Hotel 120 years ago, including "Pan-Seared Nikko Rainbow Trout" and "Crab Croquettes."
Additionally, to celebrate the 150th anniversary, the "Nikko Kanaya Hotel 150th Anniversary Dinner" incorporates dishes from 1914 with a modern twist, satisfying both tradition and innovation. There are also traditional dishes passed down from past head chefs, such as "Taisho Croquettes" and "Century-Old Curry," allowing guests to reminisce about the hotel's glorious past and enjoy a special time.
