Details

Nihon Budokan was built in 1964 as a large sports arena for judo competitions during the Tokyo Olympics, initially intended to promote and popularize traditional Japanese martial arts. The unique octagonal architecture and the onion-shaped decorations on the eaves are inspired by traditional Japanese architecture and Buddhist designs. Today, Budokan is not only used for sports competitions such as judo and karate, but it also serves as a venue for concerts, graduation ceremonies, and various corporate events. In particular, it has become a sacred place for music in Japan, hosting live concerts by world-famous bands and idol singers, making it a coveted stage for many musicians.
