Nishizawa Valley is located within Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park and boasts some of Japan's most stunning valley scenery. It features a rich natural landscape, with clusters of rhododendrons in spring, lush green trees in summer, and vibrant autumn foliage. Furthermore, it has been scientifically proven that Nishizawa Valley offers the relaxing effects of forest bathing, and it has been recognized as a forest therapy base, attracting many visitors who come specifically to enjoy "forest bathing."
Nishizawa Valley is a gorge formed over the years by the erosion of massive granite rocks, famous for its numerous beautiful waterfalls of varying sizes. The most spectacular of these is the "Nanagama Godan Falls," which has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls. (Note: Due to landslides caused by rainfall, close viewing of the "Nanagama Godan Falls" is currently not possible. Information as of May 2022.)
There are also several sightseeing spots around Nishizawa Valley. Nearby, "Mito Station" features a local specialty shop where visitors can purchase unique local products, as well as a restaurant offering various regional dishes made with ingredients from Yamanashi Prefecture. Additionally, there are hot spring facilities near the bus station that offer day trips, making it convenient to visit while heading to Nishizawa Valley.
