Details
Located in the northern part of Okinawa's main island, Onna Village is a museum that conveys the local history and culture. The museum is divided into two exhibition areas.
In the "Onna Life (恩納のくらし)" area, everyday items and videos authentically recreate the early village life, allowing visitors to experience how people lived in an environment surrounded by mountains and the sea.
In the "Onna's Path (恩納のみち)" area, numerous artifacts unearthed from GUSUKU (the name of castles built between the 12th and 15th centuries) and the Nakadomari ruins trace the historical context from modern times back to ancient times.
In the exhibition hall's viewing room, videos of traditional festivals and rituals are played, imprinting precious moments in the viewer's mind.
From the second-floor exhibition hall, visitors can gaze out at the beautiful emerald sea. It is a perfect spot to relax and unwind after exploring the various areas. Additionally, visitors can touch the traditional Okinawan boat "Sabani."
This is a highly recommended destination for those who wish to delve deeper into the nature and culture of Onna Village.
