🎨 Restaurant Gallery
📝 Introduction
A soba noodle shop that inherits the traditional "Walnut Buckwheat Noodles" of Ouchi-juku.
📖 Details
Founded in 1978, this soba noodle shop carries on the tradition of "Walnut Soba" from Ouchi-juku. The traditional way to enjoy it is by mixing ground walnuts into the dipping sauce for the soba noodles. The walnuts used are locally sourced "Natural Mountain Walnuts" from Aizu. The characteristic of "Natural Mountain Walnuts" is that they have a lower bitterness compared to "English Walnuts," with a rich aroma and flavor.
A recommended dish is the "Clear Day Set Meal." This walnut soba, accompanied by a variety of side dishes, is typically enjoyed during special occasions or celebrations such as the New Year. Served in a square red lacquerware, it features walnut soba made with natural walnuts, "Tochimochi" (a type of dumpling), konjac slices, walnut ice cream, and other luxurious soba delicacies.
In addition to walnut soba, there is also the "Juku-mura Set Meal," which includes hand-made soba from Yamamoto-ya served with iwana (mountain trout), tempura, wild vegetables, and pickled side dishes. Another rich dish is "Sauce Tochimochi," which consists of Tochimochi made from ground seven-leaf fruit, deep-fried, and then soaked in warm noodle soup.
