About Ozu Valley Double Vine Bridge
Experience the thrilling and exciting "Vine Suspension Bridge" deep in the secret realm.
Details
The Ōzuyama Double Vine Bridge is located in Japan's famous hidden gem, the Iya Valley. It consists of two suspension bridges made from wild climbing vines and other plants found in the valley, set at an altitude of 1,000 meters, closer to the depths of the hidden area than the "Iya Vine Bridge" in the Daisetsuzan Gorge. Since the two vine bridges are built side by side in the canyon, they are referred to as the "Male Bridge" and "Female Bridge," collectively known as the "Couple Bridge."
The Male Bridge is 42 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 12 meters above the water surface; the Female Bridge is 22 meters long, 1.2 meters wide, and 4 meters above the water surface. Although the Double Vine Bridge is smaller than the "Iya Vine Bridge" in Daisetsuzan Gorge, walking on it is equally thrilling, providing an exhilarating experience that rivals that of the Iya Vine Bridge.
Additionally, there is a human-powered cableway called "Yazaru" next to the Female Bridge. Travelers can sit in a suspended wooden chair called "Yakata" and pull themselves across the valley using a rope. While it requires physical effort, it is a lot of fun and offers an exhilarating river crossing experience.
