You can appreciate the works of renowned artists on Naoshima, an island of modern art that attracts travelers from around the world, located in Kagawa Prefecture. Near the ferry terminal at Miyauura Port, the first thing that catches your eye is Yayoi Kusama's masterpiece, "Red Pumpkin."
As you get closer, you notice that some of the dots on the surface of the red pumpkin are hollowed out, allowing you to enter its interior through the openings. Being able to touch and step inside one of Kusama's important themes, the "pumpkin," is a truly valuable experience. Kusama describes this work with a poetic line: "Chasing the sun's 'red light' to the ends of the universe, transforming into a red pumpkin in the sea of Naoshima."
After the lights are turned on at night, you can experience a charm that is completely different from during the day.
