The Karuizawa Station building, which was dismantled in 1997 due to the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, was revived in 2017 at the Shinano Railway Karuizawa Station's old entrance. It utilizes the preserved historical building as the "Old Karuizawa Station Memorial Museum," offering a unique tranquil atmosphere characteristic of Karuizawa. Inside the station building, in addition to a ticket office and ticket gate, there is a waiting room where passengers can relax while waiting for their trains. Particularly popular is the "ROKUMON VIP Room" located within the Old Karuizawa Station Memorial Museum (accessible only to passengers with a train ticket and reserved seat plan). The elegant interior is furnished with designs by Eiichi Mitooka, the designer of the sightseeing train "ROKUMON," allowing passengers to enjoy drinks in a sophisticated setting while they wait, which has received high praise. Additionally, the third-floor shopping area features a row of stores related to Shinshu. Here, you can find station bento boxes, jams, and other products that make excellent souvenirs.
