Led by JR East, this development project utilizes the old site of a train depot. On a vast area of 9.5 hectares, four skyscrapers and one low-rise cultural facility have been constructed, surrounding the Takanawa Gateway Station with commercial facilities, hotels, offices, residences, a complex cultural facility, and an international conference hall. With the vision of "Global Gateway," it aims to create an "experimental ground for a prosperous life 100 years from now," becoming a city that continually nurtures new businesses and culture. On March 27, 2025, with the opening of Takanawa GATEWAY CITY, the "Takanawa GATEWAY Station" will fully open, featuring new dining facilities and a grassy space called Eki Park, providing a more comfortable station environment. "THE LINKPILLAR 1" will also introduce "NEWoMan Takanawa," which will host 180 shops, with stores gradually opening. The introduction of security robots, cleaning robots, and delivery robots, along with autonomous vehicles navigating the streets, will assist the public in moving around. As a new landmark in Tokyo, various exciting events are currently being held in anticipation of the official opening in spring 2026.
