🗺️ Takasaki Byakue Daikannon高崎白衣大観音

The Takasaki White Kannon at Jigenin is a landmark in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. The statue is pure white and sacred in appearance, with a gentle expression, standing here since its completion in 1936, guarding the local people for many years. The White Kannon is 41.8 meters tall and weighs about 6,000 tons. It has a nine-story structure inside, housing 20 Buddha statues. Visitors can also climb the stairs to the height of the statue's shoulders. From the top floor, one can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of Takasaki City and the distant mountains. It was registered as a tangible cultural asset in 2000. Every spring, around 3,000 cherry blossom trees of the Somei Yoshino variety bloom, and the pure white Kannon statue, set against the pink carpet of blossoms, adds an air of mystery, creating a rare sight not easily found elsewhere. There are also night lighting events, offering a fantastical view that is completely different from the daytime scenery. After experiencing the charm of the Kannon statue, it is recommended to take a break at the "Ichiro-do CAFE" located within the grounds. This café offers healthy Japanese cuisine, making it a perfect spot for lunch.

The statue built in 1936. Climb up the 146-step staircase inside; there is no elevator. Designated as a national "Registered Tangible Cultural Property." In spring, you can see the beautiful scenery contrasting the pink cherry blossoms with the pure white Kannon statue. There is a café on the premises.
