About Tama Six Cities Science Museum
Experience the mysteries of the universe in the world's largest planetarium!
Details
The planetarium "Science Dome" is equipped with the projector "CHIRON II," which can display over 140 million stars. Through the 27.5-meter diameter dome screen, visitors can experience a deep and realistic starry sky along with powerful imagery. In addition to introducing the night sky visible in Tokyo on that day, the theme is changed every two months. The relaxed live commentary provided by the astronomy team is also highly praised.
The exhibition area is divided into five display rooms, featuring around 100 interactive exhibits. In the "Challenge House," simple questions like "What is the Moon like?" and "How do we go to space?" bring visitors closer to various cosmic displays, making it feel more accessible. Additionally, in the "Sensory House," visitors can engage in tactile games or smell-based guessing games, challenging their senses and rediscovering the functions of their bodies.
There is also a café offering meals made with local vegetables and koji, as well as handmade desserts available for takeout. Furthermore, visitors can bring their own meals into the relaxation area, making it an ideal spot for families to enjoy a day out together.
