🎨 Restaurant Gallery
📝 Introduction
Enjoy matcha and wagashi amid the beautiful scenery of the four seasons in the garden.
📖 Details
The Nishi no Maru Garden was built by Tokugawa Yoshinobu of the Kishu Tokugawa family within Wakayama Castle. The wooden tea house with a copper roof, known as "Kōshū-an," stands in the garden, which is famously known as "Momijigawa" (Maple River). Kōshū-an was donated by the late honorary citizen Matsushita Konosuke during the garden's renovation in 1973, named by combining "Momiji" (maple) and "Kō" (red) with "Matsu" (pine).
Inside the tea house, there is a seated area for enjoying tea, where even those unfamiliar with tea ceremony etiquette can easily savor matcha and wagashi (Japanese sweets). In the autumn, amidst the frost-kissed maple leaves and the lush moss of the changing seasons, accompanied by the gentle sound of flowing water, one can quietly feel the passage of time.
Additionally, both the tea seating and standing area are available for private bookings.
