🍜 TOEFL 横丁 (Yokocho) Wakamatsuya

📝 Introduction

The freshly made fish cakes crafted by artisans are truly mouthwatering.

📖 Details

Since its opening in Meiji 38 (1905), it has been a renowned store in the Ise Jingu area, known for its delicious fish paste products. Using high-quality fresh fish to create premium fish cakes, it showcases the natural flavors of the fish through traditional methods without any chemical preservatives. All fried items are cooked in healthy rice oil extracted from rice bran. Craftsmen use this high-quality oil, which has a golden and transparent color, to deep-fry delicately over low heat, taking considerable time and effort. The signature product "Ise Hiryouzu (ひりょうず)" contains nine ingredients including Ise nori, wood ear mushrooms, edamame, and carrots, making it a hearty option. It is not only perfect for personal consumption but also a favorite souvenir for visitors to Ise. Additionally, the "Ise Hanpei (半片)," which incorporates yam for added elasticity and is soft enough to be cut with chopsticks, and the cute "Sasa Uobata (笹魚板)" shaped like fish are also very popular. There are several individually sold items, making them ideal street food for enjoying while strolling.
