The Art Deco-style Chokyōkōkan, built in 1933 (Showa 8), opened as a museum in 1983. The main building, main gate, tea room, and other areas were designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan in 2015. The entrance's relief door designed by French glass artist René Lalique, along with the grand and imposing hall, make the interior a space worth visiting. The venue features a lawn garden, Japanese garden, and tea room inherited from the Chokyōkōkan era, as well as a Western-style garden, making it ideal for strolling through various garden styles. The seasonal flowers and plants also welcome visiting guests. In addition to the annual "Architectural Open House" themed around the former Chokyōkōkan building, various planned exhibitions are held. There are also events related to exhibitions, guided tours explaining the history of the gardens, and tea ceremonies at the tea room "Kōka." Please check the official website for the latest information on events. On the first floor of the new building, there is a café called "Café TEIEN," which is an open space with a glass curtain. Additionally, next to the main gate, there is a restaurant called "comodo," offering Italian-French fusion cuisine. Both establishments overlook the gardens, allowing guests to enjoy a moment away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
