Details
Suginami Ward has long been home to many animation production studios and is now known as the "Animation Capital" of Japan, with the highest number of studios in the country. Located in Suginami Ward, the "Suginami Animation Museum" is Japan's first facility dedicated to providing a comprehensive introduction to animation.
The museum uses images and illustrations to present the history of Japanese animation, as well as the principles and production processes behind it. Additionally, there is a popular interactive exhibition area where visitors can experience animation production firsthand. This includes a voice acting experience room where visitors can try their hand at being voice actors, and a digital workspace for coloring or editing using computers.
In the "Anime Theater," equipped with a 150-inch screen, selected classic animations are screened. The museum also houses a large collection of books, videos, and other materials related to animation, and visitors can watch interview materials featuring those involved in animation production in the anime library.
