🍜 Tsuruya Shokudo (Kyoto)

"Tsuruyashokudo" is located in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, on the back approach to the Motoise Kono Shrine. The interior, built with earthen walls, is filled with a nostalgic atmosphere, making it a great place to take a break while sightseeing at "Amanohashidate." From the terrace of the restaurant, you can enjoy a stunning view of the famous Amanohashidate, allowing for a thoroughly relaxing dining experience. Here, you can enjoy dishes made with a wealth of fresh ingredients from the Tango region. One must-try dish is the "Tango Hōdon," which is filled with a thick texture and the seafood aroma of red algae, along with seasonal local squid and the unique local turban shell. Other offerings include rice bowls made with rare Kanetaka sardines and udon noodles made from ancient red rice, providing a variety of unique delicacies that can only be found at this restaurant. In winter, there is the "Tango Buri Hōzen," featuring the local specialty Iken Buri fish. The luxurious combination of buri fish and the Hōdon is very popular, so be sure to make a reservation if you want to try this seasonal dish. Additionally, for dessert lovers, you must try the "Amanohashidate Chiffon Cake" made with matcha from the long-established "Isono Kaikado" in Miyazu City. It is recommended as a dessert after your meal or to enjoy with tea.
