🗺️ Uejo Castle Ruins宇江城城跡

The ruins of Uejo Castle are located on Kume Island, approximately 100 kilometers west of Okinawa's main island. Situated at the summit of Uejo-dake, the highest point on Kume Island, the ruins are about 310 meters above sea level, making it the highest castle among the many in Okinawa Prefecture. The view from the castle's observation deck is breathtaking. Not only can you enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the entire Kume Island, but on clear days, you can also see Hate no Hama and the surrounding islands in the distance. Although the castle is on a small hill, you can drive directly to the top. There are guardrails set up along the roadside for safety. The walls are prone to collapse, so please do not cross the guardrails. Many artifacts, including ceramics imported from China, have been unearthed around the castle ruins, and archaeological excavations are still ongoing.

A great spot to enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Kume Island. You can drive directly to the top of the mountain. It is the highest castle ruins among the many castles in Okinawa Prefecture.
