🗺️ Ueshima Town Yuzushima Sailing Ship

📝 Introduction

On the catamaran, becoming one with the Seto Inland Sea and the sky.

📖 Details

Sailing leisurely between the islands of Dream Island Waterway on an 8.5-meter long catamaran, the tranquility of gliding solely on wind power with the engine off creates a feeling of unity with the sea and sky. When strong winds blow, the boat glides smoothly across the water, providing an exhilarating experience. This vessel is designed based on traditional Polynesian fishing boats, offering both stability and openness, and allowing direct access from the beach, taking you to hidden beaches that typical boats cannot reach. The sailing tour is organized by Mr. Sam from New Zealand. He has two years of experience living on a boat in Asia with his family and, after returning to New Zealand, he studied and worked in boat carpentry. His parents fell in love with this land and moved here earlier, and influenced by them, he was captivated by the beauty of the sea and the warmth of the island's people, leading him to settle on the island five years ago. Mr. Sam handcrafted the boat himself, avoiding rust-prone metal fittings, and the hull is made of Teflon-treated wood, showcasing the wisdom and skill of boat carpentry. Mechanical aspects, including the engine, are handled by his father, an electrical technician, while the sails are managed by his mother, who works for a company that manufactures and sells sails. Not only can you enjoy sailing during the sunlit days, but experiencing the sunset reflected like a mirror on the water during evening cruises is also worthwhile.
