📜 Restaurant Details

At the Uji Tea Ceremony Hall, Takumi no Yakata, you can enjoy tea while gazing at the Uji River, spending a moment of tranquility. You can also choose your favorite Uji tea from the tea menu and learn the brewing methods under the guidance of staff who hold qualifications as Japanese tea masters. The staff will carefully explain each step of the tea brewing process, making it easy for even those who have never brewed tea before to experience it. Additionally, you can learn how to turn the brewed tea leaves into a delicious side dish by drizzling them with orange vinegar and sprinkling salt. The shop offers three types of tea menus: Uji Gyokuro with Japanese sweets, Uji Matcha, and Uji Sencha. For guests who want to learn more about Japanese tea, it is recommended to try the experiential activities. In the shop's "Tea Brewing Classroom," you can learn about brewing and tasting methods while listening to introductions about the history of Uji tea, including Gyokuro, Matcha, and Sencha, as well as information on tea processing and the benefits of tea leaves. Additionally, there is an experience activity called "Chakōfuku." "Chakōfuku" is a competitive game that involves distinguishing different types of tea. You guess the names of the tea leaves from several varieties by tasting and smelling them. There are two game formats: one is the "5 Types, 5 Brews Competition," where you distinguish five types of tea through five tastings, taking about 2 hours; the other is the "5 Types, 3 Brews Competition," where you distinguish five types of tea through three tastings, taking about 1 hour and 30 minutes. All the experiential activities mentioned above require advance reservations.
