About Ureshino Onsen
Enjoy soaking in the hot springs and delicious food at the hot spring renowned as one of the "Three Great Hot Springs for Beautiful Skin" in Japan!
Details
Ureshino Onsen first appeared in the ancient text "Hizen Fudoki" from the Nara period, described as a hot spring town with "remarkable therapeutic effects on the eastern side, capable of treating injuries and illnesses." Later, it became a bustling post station on the Nagasaki Road during the Edo period. Today, it is ranked alongside Hinokami Onsen in Shimane Prefecture and Kiryūgawa Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture as one of Japan's "Three Great Beautiful Skin Hot Springs." The spring water here is a bicarbonate spring rich in sodium bicarbonate, which has a viscous feel and can emulsify and wash away sebum and secretions, leaving the skin smooth and delicate, as if shedding a layer, which is highly praised.
The public bath "Nishibōrudo Onsen" is a symbol of Ureshino Onsen. It is said that the German doctor Sibold visited here during the Edo period, when the hot spring was operated under a feudal lord. The romantic Gothic Western architectural style from the Taisho era is also not to be missed. For those who enjoy hot springs, it is recommended to purchase the "Yuyu Ticket," which includes 12 tickets, allowing you to freely choose from 16 hot spring facilities at a discounted price (ticket price: 1,500 yen).
Additionally, it is said that drinking Ureshino Onsen water can help activate gastrointestinal and liver functions. At the drinking spring area, you can drink the spring water or taste the Ureshino Onsen tofu, which has a jelly-like texture made from the hot spring water, allowing for cleansing both inside and out.
