About Wonton Noodles Not Moving - Hekou Lake Main Store

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Lake Kawaguchi in Fujikawaguchiko, savor the local dish of Yamanashi, known as "Hōtō."

Details

Jappa is located at the foot of Japan's highest peak, Mount Fuji, near Lake Kawaguchi, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, and offers the renowned Yamanashi dish, Jappa. In addition to the main store, there are four branch locations around Lake Kawaguchi. Jappa is a local dish familiar to the Yamanashi region for many years and has been selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as one of the Top 100 Local Dishes of Agricultural, Mountain, and Fishing Villages. Its origins are widely debated; it is said to have been introduced to Japan during the Tang Dynasty in China and was favored by the nobility during the Heian period. It even has a rich history documented in the famous essay collection "Makura no Sōshi" (枕草子). The Jappa served at the restaurant is meticulously handmade from flour and is accompanied by a miso-flavored soup rich in sweetness from a variety of vegetables, including pumpkin and mushrooms, making it a superb dish. The main offering is solely Jappa, reflecting the restaurant's unwavering confidence in traditional flavors and the passion invested in this dish. Although there are a total of 300 seats and the space is spacious, it remains a popular restaurant with long lines during tourist seasons. In a charming, traditional-style building, guests can enjoy the natural beauty of Fuji while savoring authentic flavors that cannot be found elsewhere.
