Located in Gifu Prefecture, the Aqua Toto freshwater aquarium features the theme "From the source of the Nagara River to downstream areas, as well as freshwater fish from around the world." It showcases over 22,000 aquatic animals, including 220 species of fish and amphibians. Notably, the scale of freshwater fish species is the largest in the world. Inside the aquarium, the exhibits start from the upper reaches of the Nagara River and connect with displays of world rivers such as the Mekong and Amazon, recreating the natural environments where fish and other aquatic creatures live. Highlights include the Mekong giant catfish, known as the largest freshwater fish in the world, and the large arapaima that inhabits the Amazon River, as well as adorable animals like the Asian small-clawed otter and capybara. Visitors can enjoy various experiential activities, such as the "Highlight Tour" where aquarium staff provide explanations in front of the tanks, and the "Clear Stream Interaction Pool" for fish feeding experiences. Additionally, the "Sea Lion Show," where you can watch sea lions up close, is not to be missed.
