📝 Introduction
Standing on the hills of Yamate, a historic Western-style mansion restaurant.
📖 Details
Yamate Jubankan was built in Showa 42 (1967) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Meiji era, modeled after the foreign consulates from the time of Yokohama's opening to trade. This Western-style building is located on the Yamate hills, with a foreign cemetery in front; the first floor features a casual café, while the second floor houses a French restaurant where lunch and dinner can be enjoyed, with a pleasant breeze flowing through the lush garden.
Originally, Yamate Jubankan was the tenth branch of the famous pork cutlet restaurant "Katsuretsuan," which opened in Showa 2 (1927). The French restaurant, which carries on this lineage, offers set menus made with a variety of seasonal ingredients, including the popular "Braised Wagyu Tongue," which is tender and lightly flavored, allowing diners to experience dishes rich in history and tradition.
Nearby Yamate Jubankan, there are many sightseeing spots worth visiting, such as the Western confectionery "Enoki-Tei Main Store" and the "Yamate Museum." Every day, tourists bustle about, creating a lively atmosphere.
