🗺️ Yokohama City Kanazawa Zoo

📝 Introduction

A lush natural ecological park primarily featuring herbivorous animals.

📖 Details

Yokohama City Kanazawa Zoo is located within the lush Kanazawa Natural Park and primarily houses rare herbivorous animals from around the world. The entire zoo is divided into four exhibition areas based on the animals' original habitats: "America Zone," "Eurasia Zone," "Oceania Zone," and "Africa Zone." Popular animals at the zoo include koalas, giraffes, and elephants, but it does not feature carnivorous animals like lions, making it a zoo that exclusively raises herbivores. There is also a "Hono-Bono Square" (Japanese: ほのぼの広場) where visitors can interact closely with small ponies, goats, and sheep. The beetle exhibition area featuring rhinoceros beetles is very popular in the summer. The park boasts rich natural scenery, with cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer, cosmos in autumn, and plum blossoms in winter. If you get tired from walking, you can enjoy local cuisine at the "NONO-HANA Café" (Japanese: ののはなカフェ), and there is also a take-out food shop called "WAKU-WAKU Kitchen" (Japanese: わくわくキッチン) (WAKU-WAKU Kitchen is only open on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays). Additionally, there are shops selling souvenirs, snacks, and other gifts within the park.

⭐ Highlights

You can see rare herbivores, such as the Arabian oryx and the Indian rhinoceros. The zoo is dedicated to the "species conservation" work of protecting and saving endangered animals. It only houses herbivores. You can enjoy flowers that represent each season. In the café, you can savor delicious bread and desserts made with local ingredients. NONO-HANA is a café designed to resemble a garden. From the observation deck in the park, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay.
