🗺️ Yonago City Museum of Art米子市美術館

Located in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, it is the first public art museum in the San'in region. Opened in 1983 amidst the enthusiastic anticipation of local citizens, it serves as a venue for residents to showcase their works and frequently hosts exhibitions, focusing on local artists and showcasing the museum's collection, thereby conveying a rich and diverse art culture. The collection comprises approximately 1,900 pieces. The range of works is extensive, including those by the Western painter Maeda Kanji, known for his unique "zenkō" technique, the pioneering comic artist Kiyama Yoshikyo, who is renowned in the United States, the sculptor Tsuji Shindo, who pioneered the field of ceramic sculpture, and the photographer Ueda Shoji, among many others. Ueda Shoji's works, set against the backdrop of the Tottori Sand Dunes and the vast sky, arrange the subjects of his photographs like artworks. His unique technique perfectly captures the natural beauty of San'in, attracting the attention of visitors. Additionally, next to the museum is "Fruit café Saeki," which offers fresh juices made from seasonal fruits, parfaits, and fruit sandwiches. After visiting the museum, it's a great idea to come and taste the delicious fruits while taking a break.
