The garden was created by top literary figures of the time, embodying a sense of the common people while also rich in scholarly taste. It boasts a beauty distinct from the grand gardens like Koishikawa Kōrakuen and Rikugien, showcasing flowers from early spring plum blossoms and daffodils to the winter aconite.
To fully enjoy the seasonal beauty of Japan, the garden hosts various events throughout the year, including the Spring Seven Herbs Festival, a large Morning Glory Exhibition, an Insect Exhibition, and a Moon Viewing Evening.
The most famous event is the "Hagi Festival" held in autumn, featuring the "Hagi Flower Tunnel." Visitors can walk through a 30-meter long vibrant purple tunnel lined with Hagi flowers along a bamboo fence.
