📖 Details

Zenmyoji is a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism, with its founding date unknown. Inside the temple, there is a large iron statue of Amida Nyorai, created by the swordsmith Fujiwara Sukechika. This iron statue is revered as a treasure of the temple and is officially recognized as an important cultural property of the nation. The cemetery within the temple grounds contains the graves of the Shinto priest Iida Iori and the loyalist Nishi-enji Sanemitsu. The beautifully maintained garden blooms with flowers throughout the year, providing a serene and healing space that calms the mind.

⭐ Highlights

The "Great Iron Buddha Amitabha Sitting Statue" and the "Small Iron Buddha Amitabha Sitting Statue," designated as important cultural properties of the country, are housed here. You can leisurely stroll through the beautiful gardens. The cemetery on the premises contains the graves of famous individuals.
