Located next to the "Zhongqi Bamboo Leaf Fish Cake Factory," the "Zhongqi Bamboo Leaf Fish Cake Museum" is an experiential facility with a sales area and a restaurant. The handmade experience of making bamboo leaf fish cakes and fried fish cakes is very popular (reservation required). It starts with the mixing process of the raw fish paste. With careful guidance from the staff, even children can safely participate (limited to elementary school-aged children and above). Additionally, there is a tour to the factory after understanding the secrets of the raw materials and the manufacturing methods. In the grilled fish cake experience area, you can enjoy grilling bamboo leaf fish cakes according to your preferences. In the attached "Tanabata Museum," there are displays of photos and materials related to Sendai's summer tradition, the "Sendai Tanabata Festival." The museum features not only the currently popular colorful Tanabata decorations but also recreations of decorations from the feudal era and the Meiji period. Regardless of the season or when you visit Sendai, you can experience the charm of the Tanabata Festival. Bamboo leaf fish cake is one of Sendai's representative delicacies. Its name comes from its shape, which resembles bamboo leaves. It was once referred to by more general names such as "wood leaf fish cake" or "palm fish cake," but later it was named bamboo leaf fish cake after the bamboo leaves depicted in the family crest of Date Masamune, "Take Suzume Mon," and this name has been widely used since then.
