🗺️ Akō Onsen (赤穗温泉)赤穂温泉

Akō Onsen is located on the Akō Misaki Heights, facing the Harima Nada, and is famous for its panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea. It opened in 1969 (Shōwa 44) and is a relatively newly developed hot spring area. In 2000, a new source was excavated from 1,600 meters underground. The neutral saline spring is rich in mineral content, has a soft texture, and excellent heat retention, earning it the nickname "Revitalizing Hot Spring," making it very popular among visitors. Akō Onsen features seven ryokans and hotels, many of which have outdoor baths where guests can enjoy soaking while taking in views of the Seto Inland Sea. Additionally, several facilities offer day-use options for hot spring bathing. The local cuisine, which utilizes a large amount of fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, is also one of the attractions. Akō City is well-known for its connection to the story of "Chūshingura," which depicts the spirit of the Akō ronin. To this day, there are historical sites such as the ruins of Akō Castle and the site of the Ōishi residence's nagaya (longhouse). Nearby, there are swimming beaches and facilities for experiencing salt production, making it an excellent choice for sightseeing in the city.
